About candidate
My favorite work has always been creating beautiful, natural-looking hair color. I love the technical side of the industry just as much as the creative side. Hair color is like solving a puzzle. Every head of hair is different, and every formula has to take into account the client’s history, porosity, underlying pigment, condition, and goals. That’s what makes it so interesting to me.
I’m someone who genuinely enjoys learning. Even after decades in the industry, I was always taking classes, reading, asking questions, and looking for better ways to approach color. I guess you could say I’m a bit of a hair color nerd, and I’m perfectly okay with that. I love understanding why something works, not just how to do it.
Because of health issues, I had to step away from working with salon chemicals. It was a difficult decision because hair color has always been my passion. That’s why this opportunity immediately caught my attention. It gives me the chance to stay connected to the part of the industry I love most by helping others solve color problems, sharing my knowledge, and continuing to learn without working directly with chemicals.
At the end of the day, I simply enjoy helping people. Whether it’s another stylist looking for guidance or someone trying to understand what their hair can realistically achieve, I find it incredibly rewarding to use my experience to educate, troubleshoot, and help people feel confident in the results.
Because of health issues, I can no longer work around salon chemicals every day. While that was a difficult decision, it never changed how much I love this industry or how much knowledge and experience I have to offer.
This position feels like the perfect fit because it allows me to continue doing what I enjoy most. I can help people, solve problems, and use my experience without being exposed to the chemicals that I can no longer work around. I genuinely enjoy learning, and I’d love the opportunity to be part of a team that is just as passionate about hair color as I am
I’ve always believed that honesty comes before saying yes. Hair color has limits, and every decision should be based on the client’s hair history, condition, texture, and long-term goals. Before making a correction plan, I spent time asking detailed questions about previous color services, bleaching, chemical treatments, and anything else that could affect the outcome. Many clients didn’t realize that even if their hair looked like their natural color, years of previous color or lightening were still part of the equation.
Throughout my career, I became known for fixing difficult color corrections that other stylists either couldn’t solve or had unintentionally created. Those situations required not only technical knowledge, but also clear communication and realistic expectations. Sometimes the best solution wasn’t the fastest one. It meant explaining that achieving their goal safely might take multiple appointments instead of one. While clients didn’t always love hearing that at first, they appreciated the honesty and trusted me because I always put the health of their hair first.
I believe great hair color isn’t just about knowing formulas. It’s about understanding the science of hair, recognizing its limitations, educating clients, and creating a plan that gives them the best possible result without compromising the integrity of their hair.

Dear Hiring Team,
I was excited to come across this opportunity because it combines everything I enjoy most about the hair industry. I’ve been a licensed hairstylist for nearly 30 years, and for the past 15 years I’ve focused primarily on hair color and color correction. While I enjoyed all aspects of doing hair, hair color has always been the area that fascinated me the most.
What I love most isn’t just creating beautiful results. I love understanding the science behind hair color. Throughout my career, I made it a priority to continue learning. I’ve read countless books on color theory, attended advanced education whenever I could, and learned from respected educators, including David Velasco. Even after decades behind the chair, I still get excited discussing formulas, troubleshooting difficult corrections, and learning new techniques. I’m a bit of a hair color geek, and I truly enjoy helping people solve problems.
I became known for taking on challenging color corrections and educating clients about what was realistically possible while always protecting the health and integrity of their hair. I believe great colorists don’t just know formulas. They understand the chemistry of hair, communicate honestly, and create realistic plans that put the client’s hair first.
Because of health issues, I can no longer work around salon chemicals every day, but my passion for hair color has never changed. This role would allow me to continue doing what I love by helping others, sharing my experience, continuing to learn, and being part of a team that values education, integrity, and exceptional client care.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I would truly appreciate the opportunity to contribute my knowledge, enthusiasm, and years of experience to your team.
